Fear

This is the first thing I've ever seen E scared of, and it's very surprising. E is scared of PLANTS! I first noticed it with my mom when she was visiting, and yesterday I realized how serious it is... I was trying to get a picture of the shirt I made for my project blog, and I thought my flowers would make a pretty background... these are the pictures I got:

First, he was holding my finger and leaning as far away from the plants as he could.

I tried sitting him in front of the plants, but he just tried to crawl away as fast as possible.
I moved him by the front door, but he just looked at the plant like it was going to come get him.

A Day With Wild Thing

Here's a typical day with E... and notice that he managed to go through FOUR outfits.

Pull DVDs off the shelf
Empty the basket, throw the toys all over the room, and play inside the basket!
Find a new walking toy.
Watch the water running.
Make messes with the sippy.

Walking!

It has taken me FOREVER to get a video of this. He's been taking steps on his own for a few weeks. He does it when the camera is in the other room, or he refuses to perform when I have the camera. I gave up tonight trying to get a video, and as soon as I put the camera down he walked all the way down the hall to me! I finally got these short clips. I love his little drunken-sailor walk!

Outside

We've had great weather this weekend. We spent as much time outside as possible. I love these pictures of E - so focused on picking grass! He looks like a big boy here!

Seven Highlights of Seven Years

Today is our 7th Anniversary! A friend watched E and we enjoyed a great dinner out. At dinner, I made Cam help me come up with the top 7 highlights of our marriage... (and apparently the wedding day doesn't count - it's like the free space in Bingo!)

7. Hiking - we've been on so many great hikes in so many places. It's always wonderful to spend time in the great outdoors.

6. Road Trips- it's not my preferred way of getting to a destination, but we've had many memorable cross-country trips. Nothing like 30 straight hours in the car to strengthen a marriage, right? :)

5. Our cruise to Mexico - exploring ruins, snorkeling, and cruise fun.

4. Trip to Hawaii - snorkeling, Pearl Harbor, biking down a volcano, luaus, driving around in a convertible, and more. This trip was fantastic!

3. Pets - Nick, Gracie, and Jack have brought many laughs and fun times into our home. They're a part of the family!

2. Buying a home - there is something very satisfying about having a home that is yours - it has definitely been a learning experience in both good and bad ways. But it's ours!

1. We both agreed that E has been the most amazing thing in our lives. We were just talking the other day about how we almost can't remember life before E, and he's not even a year old yet. The day that he joined our family was an answer to many prayers. Compared to him, the vacations and things are just memories that will eventually fade.

A little history lesson...

When we went to the Guilford Courthouse Revolutionary War site on Thursday and learned that they would be doing reenactments this weekend, we decided it would be something cool to see. Neither of us had ever been to one before. The cannons and guns didn't even phase E, and it was really neat to see. Oh, and props to Cam for insisting that we get the adorable picture of E with the British soldiers. Only he didn't call it adorable, he called it awesome. :)
