Snow Days

This time, we got some snow that stuck around! I've had one full day of work in the last two weeks. It's been CRAZY. Emmett had a blast the last few days playing in the snow - if he had his way, he'd never come back inside!

Tuesday - School was dismissed at 8:45, after just 45 minutes! We got home and the birds were out playing in the snow on our deck.

They let Cam leave work early, and as soon as he got home it was play time!

He tried so hard to keep up with the dogs!

He also had a blast shoveling off the sidewalk and driveway with his shovel and dump truck.

Wednesday - We had to wait and go outside to play until the afternoon so Susie was asleep. Daddy made him a big hill of snow, and I tried to make a snowman but the snow was so powdery that it ended up being a mini-snowman!

The highlight of the night - the snow plow. It came by three times!!!

Snow Day

We finally got some real snow! It wasn't really enough to play in, but Emmett thought it was pretty cool. Susie just smiled as usual!

Susie - 7 months

I feel like I blink and it's time for another month post! Susie is 7 months old now. She is sitting up pretty well, and teething like crazy (but no teeth yet). She's also trying to crawl but can't get her arms and legs coordinated! She is growing like a weed, I feel like I'm constantly packing up clothes that don't fit anymore. She still smiles for everyone, and loves her big brother so much!

Science Center

We decided to take advantage of the nice weather and the holiday and go to the Greensboro Science Center today. We met my cousin there, because I knew I'd need help! We had a great time at the sciquarium and the weather was perfect for the outdoor zoo. Everything was great until the reptile/small mammal house, where they had the bunny out to pet. Emmett wouldn't do it, then they put the bunny away. Then he wanted to pet it. This is when the tantrum began. He refused to move on to the dinosaurs, and then of course screamed all the way to the car that he wanted to see the dinosaurs. I was very impressed that he kept saying "PLEASE go see the dinosaurs mommy!" It's nice that he threw in some manners in the middle of the tantrum. A sweet older lady patted my shoulder as a wrestled him towards the car and said "You're a good mom. We've all been there." Sweet thought, but not much help at the moment. So glad Ryan was there to help out! The best moment was out by the tiger area - the tigers were very active and came right up to the glass. At one point one kinda pounced at the glass. Definitely don't want to meet up with one in the open!

"No Snow" Day

They cancelled school today because of the freezing temperatures (the truck said 4 degrees when Cam left for work!). So we had a "no snow" day. When I was trying to decide if I should go in for the workday or not, I realized that I need to just be with my kids. So, we played all day. And it was wonderful. I did do some laundry, but it's not put away. Dishes are still on the counter. But we had a fun time!

Music to My Ears

I really don't think I'll ever get tired of watching Emmett and Susie interact. I'm documenting the fun now, because I know it won't always be like this!! Today, Emmett was playing piano and Susie was just fascinated. She was jumping up and down and laughing. Emmett loves to make her laugh. In fact, this morning our breakfast conversation went like this:

Me: Emmett, do you want a cereal? Or a bagel?
Emmett: No, I want to make Susie laugh.

Boy Time

I love watching my boys get into a project. Emmett loves to help Cam outside. Right now they're building a castle for Emmett's room. The other night they had a great time playing with his new train tracks. While mommy had some Downton Abbey time, the boys played hide and seek, tag, and other fun games. We love that Emmett is old enough to enjoy these kinds of activities! He also has a great imagination. His toys will have conversations with each other. He loves his new doctor kit from Christmas. He pretends all the time! Our little boy is growing up fast!

Happy New Year!

2013 was full of some great moments, some sad moments, and some challenges. The biggest change for us was the arrival of sweet Susie. She has blessed our lives so much.

To celebrate new years we went to a friend's house to do another shrimp boil. There were SO many people, and it was hot and crowded. Cam loved cooking for everyone, but the introvert in me wanted to be at home in pajamas so badly. We stayed until about 11:00, and then rang in the new year at home.

Our annual Emmett and Amy picture!
