Memorial Day

We had a fun Memorial Day BBQ with friends. Big E got to play in the dirt, try to eat mulch, push around coolers and 2 liter bottles, and eat lots of yummy food. Oh, and he got to play with his little girlfriend MJ. He was so cute today, he would try to play with her hair (ok, so maybe he was trying to pull it), try to get in her swing with her(ok, so maybe he just wanted a turn), and push her in her swing (ok, so maybe he was being a bit rough). He was even saying "baby" just for her!! Oh, and he did hug her. My boy loves to hug other babies!!!

It was a very HOT, very fun day.

Haircut #4

E is 13 months old, and he has had 4 haircuts. His hair grows like a weed! This time I made a huge mistake - I tried to cut it myself. Then, Cam came to help me and it ended up with us holding E down in the tub while he's screaming his head off and we're just trying to make his hair look halfway decent. He didn't cry when I've taken him somewhere, so I'll be going that route from now on. Lesson learned!

The hardest part for me is that it's too short, he looks  too old, and he just doesn't even look like himself anymore! The picture I took makes it look worse than it really is. To top it all off, he's walking around holding his head like he's saying "Please don't take anymore hair!" (see picture below)

Our Fearless Explorer

He usually just pulls stuff out of this cabinet. It's the only one without a safety latch. But tonight he went all the way in, and shut the door too!

Practice Makes Perfect...

...except when E helps with the practice!

This Sunday I'm accompanying on a song for church. I haven't played piano for anything in quite a while, and I usually practice the hymns for the organ for church at night after E is asleep. So he's been fascinated with the piano, and he loves "playing" with me. It makes it hard to practice, but you know I'd never stop anything musical! I just hope he's still interested when he's older!!

Mother's Day

Yesterday E spent a lot of time with his Daddy doing projects in the garage and going to Lowe's. It was a very restful day for me, and I ran some errands, read a book, and got a small project done! It was a great Mother's Day treat.

And speaking of Mother's Day - not to get too sappy, but the best part of being a mother is seeing my two boys happy. E is the happiest kid, and everywhere we go people comment on his smile. I love watching him interact with people, especially daddy. He is the BIGGEST daddy's boy. He has to be outside or with him at all times. This picture from yesterday makes me smile, and makes me so excited to watch E grow!

What a daddy's boy! Project day at Lowe's!

Dogs

I've said before how much E loves the dogs. I thought this was too cute tonight and just had to share. Ignore his clothes - he somehow ended up with a regular shirt and clashing pajama shorts!

Traditions

I love traditions - holidays, birthdays, daily, weekly, etc. I think it comes from my slightly OCD nature (haha!). Either way, they're very important to me, especially family traditions. So, when E was about to turn 1, all I could think about was the tradition we had growing up where we got our first horse ride at 1. Horses were a huge part of my childhood. So, I knew that I had to find a horse and get E on it around his birthday. For never having seen a horse, he did GREAT. He got up in the saddle and started rocking - he wanted to MOVE!
